The Day I Received My First Art Award

The Day I Received My First Art Award

I’ll never forget the day I received my very first art award. It was at the Daffodils Festival, just a few months after I had officially opened my business in 2023. I had set up my little booth filled with pieces that were straight from my heart—no fancy strategy, no calculated collection—just art I loved creating.

At one point during the festival, I decided to take a short walk to visit other artists’ booths. I remember feeling inspired, soaking in the colors, the textures, the passion that surrounded me. I was simply happy to be there, part of a community of creators.

When I returned to my booth, I noticed a small crowd waiting for me. For a second, I thought something had gone wrong! But instead, someone stepped forward holding a ribbon in their hand… Second Place in the Fine Art category. My very first award.

I was completely surprised. I hadn’t entered the festival expecting anything other than a day filled with art and connection. And yet, here I was—being recognized for something I had created from the heart. It was a moment of pure joy, a mix of disbelief and deep gratitude.

That ribbon wasn’t just a symbol of recognition. It became a reminder that when we pour our hearts into what we create, it resonates. People feel it. Even if we doubt ourselves along the way (and trust me, I did plenty of that), staying true to your creative voice matters.

To my fellow artists: keep showing up. Keep creating what lights you up. Awards and recognition may come when you least expect them—but the real magic is in the process itself.

That day at the Daffodils Festival gave me more than an award. It gave me the reassurance I needed to keep going.

With Love, J
