INKS 007 - Revisiting An Old Artwork

Day 7 – One Step at a Time

Today’s painting is a rework of yesterday’s piece.

I wasn’t fully in love with how it turned out, and instead of setting it aside, I came back to it. I gave myself permission to try again—not from scratch, but from a place of curiosity and care. I spent time blending the petals, softening edges, and creating more harmony within the composition. And honestly? I love it so much more now. (Link for the video below)

It’s a gentle reminder that progress doesn’t always look like starting over.
Sometimes, it looks like returning.
Sometimes, the magic happens in the second draft.

The quote for today is: “One action—one step each day... that's all it takes to reach what seems impossible.”

And that’s exactly what this painting is about.
It’s about showing up.
Not needing it to be perfect.
Just taking the next right step, and trusting that something beautiful will come from it.

This is Day 7 of my 20 Days of Ink, part of the creative journey leading to the Ink & Blooms 5-Day Challenge starting April 21st. Every day, I commit to one act of creation. One layer. One breath. One brush of ink. And each step brings me closer to something I couldn’t quite see at the start.

So if there’s something on your heart that feels too big or too far away, let this be your reminder:
You don’t need to leap. You just need to take one step today.

👉 Come take that step with me during the Ink & Blooms 5-Day Alcohol Ink Challenge. It’s free, it’s joyful, and it starts soon.

Love & Create,

Josie.Ane
