INKS 004 - Go Play Outside

Day 4 – Go Play Outside

Today’s painting is called “Rock Solid,” inspired by the joy of play and the grounding energy of stones. It’s part of my 20 Days of Ink series, and it holds a special place in my heart.

This piece was inspired by a project I’ll be bringing to my kids’ school next month. The children will be painting their own inukshuks or playing with real rocks in the classroom—a fun and meaningful activity that invites them to explore balance, creativity, and self-expression through hands-on art.

The quote that sparked today’s piece is simple: “Go play outside. Today. Tomorrow. All the time.”

It’s a little reminder that joy lives in the simplest moments—in sunlight, in movement, in curiosity. Even though today’s painting has darker tones than I originally envisioned, it still carries that spirit of play. And tomorrow, I plan to explore a brighter palette to let the rocks pop more and bring in a bit of that outdoor light.

This creative journey is leading up to my Ink & Blooms 5-Day Challenge, starting April 21st. If you’ve been waiting for a sign to reconnect with your creative spark—this is it.

So go play. On the page, in the studio, or wherever your heart leads you.

Love & Create,
